Devon Heir was purchased from the Verden Elite Foal auction in August, 2001. His sire De Niro is by the late, great Donnerhall, the famous "Stallion of the Century" for the Oldenburg breed, and also a member of the outstanding German Olympic team. De Niro has won a considerable number of Grand Prix dressage competitions, and is ranked very highly as a producer of superior sport horses. Devon Heir's damsire, Rubinstein I, was also "Stallion of the Century" for the Westfalen breed. Rubinstein I competed very successfully at the Grand Prix level in dressage, and was long-listed for the German Olympic dressage team. Thus, Devon Heir's pedigree boasts of famous outstanding dressage talents who have been prepotent for producing successful competition horses throughout Europe.
Devon Heir was the high-scoring warmblood stallion at his 2004 AHS stallion licensing at Starr Vaughn Equestrian Center. He then went on to become the high-scoring AHS stallion at the 2004 100-Day Test at Paxton Farm. In 2005, Devon returned to DG Bar Ranch and his trainer Willy Arts. Devon successfully competed in the USDF/Cosequin Breeder's Series, becoming the Champion Mature Stallion at the 2005 Region 7 USDF/Cosequin Series Championships held at Rancho Murieta in October. Devon Heir tied for second place nationally for 2005 Horse of the Year (HOY). In 2006, Devon continued his winning ways, being awarded the title of USDF Grand Champion Stallion of the West Coast Series Finals at the Breeders Championships in Burbank, Calif. He also qualified for the Championships at First Level, winning his classes at Del Mar and Pebble Beach. His first foal crop arrived in 2006. His filly out of the Welt Klasse/Saloniki mare, Wisteria, took second place at the 2006 Rainbow Equus Meadows fall inspection. He is also approved for ISR/Oldenburg N.A. and GOV.
