ES De Laurentis was purchased in 2001 at the Hengst Keuring in Verden, Germany. His sire, De Niro, a Donnerhall/Akzent II son, scored 145.41 in rideability at his 100-Day Test, finishing second out of 50. De Niro is a successful sire and Grand Prix dressage horse, winning a Grand Prix Special with a top score of 73.22% at only eight years of age. De Laurentis' dam, Chippy, is full sister to the dam of Dacaprio by Davignon. Her sire Caprimond scored 147.76 in rideability at his testing, finishing first out of 56. He is also a successful Grand Prix dressage horse, currently being shown by the 13-year-old daughter of Burkhard Wahler. Caprimond was the 1998 Stallion of the Year.
Inspection Comments
De Laurentis successfully completed his performance test on October 2, 2002. Highlights of his test were: character 9, temperament 9, willingness 9, constitution 9, walk 9.17, trot 8.73 canter 8.33. His jumping style was more hunter-like than the preferred jumper form, reflected in his scores of 6 to 7.67. In 2004, Dr. Ludwig Christmann made great comments on the first foal crop of De Laurentis. He called him a very consistent producer of type and big movement.
