Winesome is the dam of Maple Run Farm’s very successful broodmare Britania, the dam of Cabana Boy. Cabana Boy has garnered many awards in the breed ring including inspection site champion, Cosequin colt champion (weanling), Colt Champion, both as a yearling, and a two year old. After being purchased by Hilltop Farm, he has been competing very successfully with rider Chris Hickey. Together they have won the USEF/Markel Young Horse 5-year-old National Championship in 2007, USEF/Markel 6-year-old Championship in 2008 and the USEF Developing Horse Championship in 2009 at only 7 years old. This is an awesome feat for such a young horse!

MS Winesome is an exceptional 1993 17-hand proven broodmare with superior conformation and temperament. Imported from Germany, she comes from a long line of States Premium mares. Her sire, Weltmeyer, has been called the dressage sire of the decade. In 1998 he was the Hanoverian Stallion of the Year in Germany and in 2004 was the USEF leading dressage sire even though he was standing in Germany. He currently has over 80 approved sons standing at stud.

Winesome’s dam sire Werther, Hanoverian Stallion of the Year in 1992, has often been called “Versatile Werther” for his ability to jump as well as move. This versatility is the key to athleticism. Not only does Werther pass this trait on to his progeny, but he is known for passing on excellent temperament and rideability as well.

Needless to say we have been very pleased with Winesome’s offspring. She is also an excellent mother and is very easy to breed and handle. Winesome is back in foal to Donarweiss GGF.

Inspection Comments

Winesome's inspection scores were excellent. She scored 8's on head, frame, forelegs, conformation, and typiness, and 7's on neck, saddle position, and hind legs. She also scored 7 on correctness of gaits but due to an early injury could not participate in the Mare Performance Test.

MS Boario, (Bordeaux/Weltmeyer) our own daughter of Winesome has already shown great success as a broodmare. In addition, Winesome has produced for us several fine foals who we are confident will make excellent riding horses in the years to come.
