2007 News

In the spring we sold several horses and believe they all have gone to the right homes where their talents can be developed.  Kathi & Terry Rickert of Boiling Springs, PA purchased Dreams of Dancing. We are delighted that he is near by so we can watch him grow and train.  Mojo was purchased by event rider Madeline Blotjacker of Galena, OH.  Already we are hearing great reports of his progress. After only a few months training he went to his first two dressage shows and won all his classes with scores in the high 60’s and 70’s.  Way to go Mojo! Our FEI Dressage prospect Ballett-Tanzer was purchased by dressage rider and trainer Erika Fleury of West Chester, PA.  I know she has upper level ambitions for him. Beth Jacobs of Centerville, OH purchased Lady Lightfoot for a sport horse career at which she should excel.

Spring also brought us four beautiful foals! Our EM Davinia had a gorgeous chestnut filly by Liberty Gold. She has awesome movement and presence and can be seen doing tempi changes while cantering across the pasture! On St Patrick’s Day, the luck of the Irish brought us a lovely bay filly.  This was our Wallstreet Romance’s first foal and the biggest of the crop! She is by Bordeaux and is a real sweetheart with excellent conformation and movement.  The next to be born was a Royal Prince filly out of our mare Winterzauber. She has the looks and movement of her sire and has the special loving personality of her dam! We are in love with her. Our final foal was a striking black colt out of Boario and by De Laurentis.  This little guy says “look at me I’m special” and he is not wrong!  Needless to say we are very pleased with this year’s crop of foals.

As soon as foaling season was completed we broke ground on a new barn and indoor arena. The whole farm was in disarray during the summer. The project was completed in time for cold weather and we are delighted with the outcome. We want to thank everyone who was involved in the project with a special thanks to all our friends who came to help with the varnishing.  I can’t believe we really were able to put three coats of varnish on all of the stalls and the arena walls! As we ride in the arena and sip our hot chocolate in the heated upstairs viewing lounge we are actually enjoying winter!

2006 News

Congratulations to dressage rider and judge, Elizabeth Hoyt, of Cincinnati, Ohio on the purchase of Royal Destiny! A great match for a very talented colt. We look forward to following his progress in the coming years.

We are very pleased that Hunter & Sport Horse magazine chose Royal Destiny and Dreams of Dancing to feature in an article on Stallion Prospects in their Jan/Feb 2006 issue.

We have had a wonderful spring foaling season with the arrival of 4 beautiful and healthy foals. In March Boario gave birth to a gorgeous bay colt by Royal Prince. He is quite striking with 4 white socks and blaze. On his 1st day outside he demonstrated his piaffe and passage just to show us he is a credit to his breeding!

April was a very busy month. We had two foals born in one night! First to arrive was a Bordeaux/Weltmyer colt out of our Winsome. He is a beautiful chestnut just like his sire, a good mover, and a real love. Then a few hours later Winterzauber had her first foal, a striking bay filly by the German stallion Dauphin. This lovely filly is really special!

The Easter bunny brought us another foal! Easter morning Sara’s Lightning had an adorable chestnut colt by Le Cavalier. Long legged and spry, this little guy has jumper written all over him.

We are now busy breeding for the 2007 season. We will be looking forward to foals by Liberty Gold, Royal Prince, De Laurentis, Fabuleux, and Bordeaux.

We decided to show Dreams of Dancing at the Morven Park Summer Breed Shows I and II. We were delighted with the results. In MPSBS I, his first show, he placed 2nd in Yearling Colts/Geldings and 3rd in the Hanoverian IBC with a score of 78%.  A great first show.   In his second show, MPSBS II, he was the WINNER of both the Yearling Colts/Geldings and the Hanoverian IBC! His high score of the day was 78.3%. We are looking forward to the show in Lexington, VA in July.

We would like to congratulate Abigail McElroy of Charleston, WV on the purchase of Lightning's Legacy. He will have a wonderful home and we look forward to following his progress as he grows up and competes with his junior rider.

July has been a busy month for us. Lightning’s Legacy (aka Llamrei’s Nightwish) went to the Oldenburg NA/ISR inspection at Hilltop Farm. The judges were delighted with the quality and movement of this young colt and he was awared the accolade of Premium Foal with the score of 80 points!

Dreams of Dancing showed well at Dressage at Lexington with 3rds in both the Yearling Colts/Geldings and the Hanoverian Classes.  His average score was 72.3%.

Redick, Donnermagic and our broodmare Winterzauber were all inspected at the Hilltop Hanoverian inspection.  We were delighted to hear Dr. Ludwig Christmann’s and George Walker’s comments and praise for the quality of our horses and breeding program.

August has been no less busy than the previous months.  Dreams of Dancing was shown at the two  Morven Park “To Hot To Trot” breed shows.  We are really proud of our little guy.  He place in all of his classes, the two days and even won one of the Hanoverian IBCs with a score of 79.6%!  His average score for 4 classes was 77.9%.

We would also like to congratulate Carol A. Petrone on the purchase of Redick. They have a bright future together and we look forward to updates on Redicks development as a top quality riding horse.

On November 5th, Broadway Dancer (Bordeaux/Weltmeyer) went to his Hanoverian Foal Inspection at Morven Park. We are very proud of our little guy.  Not only was he the Top Colt but the Top Foal as well.  The Mid Atlantic Hanoverian Breeders Club had their mare show at the same time and he was also the Foal Champion!

The judges really thought he was something special. They both summed him up as “incredibly well balanced in all respects…one of the most balanced foals we've seen" They were impressed by the correctness the conformation of both his front and hind legs.  They also thought he had a fine saddle position with a well set neck and a very attractive head. The Judges applauded him for his presence and superb movement.  In addition they commended him for the correctness of his trots both his rhythm and his balance! They also loved the elasticity and expressiveness of his trot.

Needless to say we are thrilled with our “Buddy”.  I was especially please with how well he handled the whole situation of showing.  He was weaned about a month ago and it was his first time off the farm.  He walk right on to the trailer both coming and going and took the whole showing experience in stride!

2005 News

2005 was a busy and exciting year at Equanimity Farm Sport Horses!

Four beautiful foals of excellent quality were born in the spring and early summer. At the end of March our MS Boario had a beautiful chestnut colt by Wallstreet Kid. We named him Wallstreet Rising and I believe he will live up to his name. At his Hanoverian foal inspection the judges exclaimed, He is a fine example of a very well bred colt, with both dam and sire contributing to his overall excellent movement and conformation.

We had two foals born in June, a colt and a filly. The colt Dreams of Dancing was born to EM Wremy, a Walt Disney mare and sired by De Laurentis. Right from the beginning we knew he was a special colt. His movement is full of suspension -- he seems to just float above the ground when he trots. He was the Reserve Colt at his Hanoverian inspection and in spite of being rather butt high at the time, the judges felt he was the best mover there!

Fabulieren, the gorgeous black/dark brown June filly, was also at the Hanoverian inspection. Being the athletic little minx that she is, she showed off her canter, pirouettes, and flying lead changes but refused to trot. Judges enjoyed her antics and exclaimed that not only was she well put together but also she was incredibly athletic and agile. At home she has been seen jumping the small jumps in her pasture. Her dam EM Davinia goes back to the jumper stallion Wanderer, and her sire, Fabuleux, had high jumping scores at his stallion testing. I guess she gets these predilections honestly.
Our last foal to be born was Royal Destiny, out of EM Andromache and by Royal Prince, and he is spectacular. Dark bay/Dark brown with 4 white socks and a broken white blaze, this colt is truly striking in appearance. His movement is quite impressive as well. At his Hanoverian inspection, he was up against tough competition with some of the best pedigrees in the nation and not only was he the Champion Colt but the Top Foal as well!

We only had time for one breed show this year. Our yearling Mojo, out of EM Davinia and by Maronjo competed at Dressage at Lexington. Competing against not only Hanoverians but other warmbloods as well, he won the Yearling Colt class!

We have 4 mares in foal for next year and we are looking forward to these foals by the Hanoverian stallions Royal Prince, Bordeaux, and Dauphin as well as the Oldenburg stallion, Le Cavalier.
